Out of Character Basics
≠ This is a role play journal.
≠ All actions are disclaimed. I do not necessarily adhere to any of the views expressed with this journal, and I certainly do not own Brian.
≠ His character is taken from the TV show Dexter on Showtime, which in turn is based off the books by Jeff Lindsay.
≠ Feel free to contact me. :)
Quick Fact List
≠ Completely human.
≠ In his late 30s.
≠ Lived in Miami, Florida, about of 2006.
≠ Serial killer.
≠ Fetish for amputations.
≠ Severe childhood trauma.
≠ Older brother to Dexter Morgan, known only to he and Dex.
≠ Grew up in foster care.
≠ Spent an indeterminate number of years in a mental hospital.
≠ Cover profession as a prosthetist, or someone who makes fake limbs. Did not go to medical school.
≠ Was known primarily on the show under the alias Rudy Cooper, someone he killed and stole the identity from.
Permissions
≠ I don't believe in limiting other character's actions because of my own playing style, so consider blanket permission for anything you can think of - contacting me first for involved stuff is appreciated, however.

Touching He has specific, separate reactions to Dexter touching him that I won't go into here. With everyone else, Brian will fake whatever reaction seems appropriate. If pursuing the relationship positively would be beneficial to his plans or fit into the façade he's presented so far, that's what he'll do. In rare cases, if he has built up enough of a relationship with your character, he may react sincerely - most likely with shock and concealed affection.

Fighting He's pretty weak in this area. First and foremost, he is a careful planner. He won't act aggressively unless he's certain he has a very good chance of success, or he's been backed into a corner. So, feel free to throw a punch, but he won't react well to it. He'll definitely start paying closer attention to your character.

Pushing buttons Be careful which buttons you push if you don't want Brian to start thinking of your character as a victim. If he feels too threatened, he will make plans, try to manipulate them, etc. However, he is crazy to a great extent, and with that comes a certain amount of unpredictability. While it may be nice to read this as, "oh, he probably won't kill my character if I keep poking him," HE IS FULLY PREPARED, AND EAGER, TO USE VIOLENCE AT ALL TIMES. Children get some leniency, but the man has psychosis. Do not push it if you are unprepared to accept the consequences.

≠ Check in with me if you're unsure about anything. Seriously.
